The Pre-Beach Checklist
Summer beach gear, including hat, sunglasses, tote bag, swimsuit and shorts arranged on a blue surface at the Beach House Condominiums.

So, the sun is out and it’s time to hit the beach but what do you need to bring along? Sunscreen, obviously. Towel. And a good book, magazines, or iPad for entertainment. But what about snacks? Drinks? Shade? Here are 10 tips for having a great day at the beach.

The summer is a time for fun in the sun, but it can also be a time for disaster if you’re not careful. One of the most common problems people have during the summer is dropping their phones in the water. Whether you’re at the beach, by the pool, or out on a boat, your phone is susceptible to water damage.

This problem can be easily solved by purchasing a waterproof phone case. Not only will this protect your phone from water damage, but it will also protect it from sand and other debris. There are a variety of waterproof phone cases on the market, even a resealable plastic bag can do the trick.

Most people know that they need to bring sunscreen to the beach, but many people forget. Sunscreen is very important for protecting your skin from the sun. It can help prevent skin cancer and sunburns.

If you are going to the beach, make sure to bring sunscreen with you. The sun is very strong and can damage your skin if you are not careful. Make sure to apply sunscreen liberally and reapply it often.

Cooler

When it comes to packing for a day at the beach, most people forget one very important item – a cooler. Bringing a cooler to the beach will allow you to keep your food and drinks cold, which is essential on a hot day.

There are a few things to keep in mind when packing a cooler for the beach. First, make sure to pack plenty of ice, as it will melt quickly in the sun. Second, pack food that doesn’t need to be refrigerated, such as sandwiches, fruits, and vegetables. And third, pack drinks in cans and not bottles, as glass is illegal to bring down to the beach, at least on the Emerald Coast.

Sunglasses

Sunglasses are a must-have for the beach. Not only do they protect your eyes from the sun, but they also make you look cool. Here are a few tips on how to choose the perfect pair of sunglasses for the beach:

  • Choose a pair of sunglasses that block both UVA and UVB rays. This will protect your eyes from the sun’s harmful rays.
  • Choose a pair of sunglasses that fit well. They should not be too tight or too loose.
  • Make sure the lenses are polarized. This will help reduce glare.
  • Choose a style that you’ll enjoy wearing and taking pictures in.

While there are lifeguards with medical training that roam the beach, it might be a good idea to include some first aid items in your bag just as a precaution. There are some essential things you should think about including in your first-aid kit for the beach. Aloe vera for sunburns, vinegar for jellyfish stings, bandages and tape for cuts and scrapes, and aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief are some good ideas.

Summer is the time to take advantage of the warm weather and head to the beach. However, if your phone dies while you’re out there, it can be a major buzzkill. This is where an external battery pack comes in handy.

Not only are they great for the beach, but they’re also perfect for camping, hiking, festivals, and other outdoor activities. Some external battery packs are even solar-powered which makes them perfect for a sunny day at the beach.

Bringing a water bottle to the beach is an easy way to help keep you hydrated while you’re enjoying the sun and sand. Most beaches don’t have water fountains or even drink vendors, so it’s a good idea to pack your own. It’s also a good way to avoid spending extra money on bottled water, which can really add up.

Pillow or Headrest

There is nothing more frustrating than trying to relax on the beach, only to have the chair you’re sitting in having a hard, uncomfortable headrest. One way to solve this problem is to bring a pillow or personal headrest with you to the beach. Not only can you use it on your chair, but you can use it on your towel while you’re sunbathing or taking a mid-day nap.
